COUNSELLING GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION THROUGH CLAT 2017

The admission to UG and PG programme in participating National Law Universities under CLAT-2017 shall be done through centralised counselling conducted by CLAT Office. The basis of allotment of seats shall be ‘merit-cum-preference’, i.e., CLAT-2017 Rank and order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT-2017 application form. Online counselling shall start from 5th June, 2017. The entire procedure shall be completed as per the CLAT-2017 calendar, which is available on CLAT website http://www.clat.ac.in

The stepwise procedure for admission which shall be adopted by CLAT 2017 Office after declaration of result for admission is as follows:

STEP 1
Publication of first indicative list based on merit cum preference [5th June, 2017]
The University-wise First Indicative List based on merit-cum-preference will be published on CLAT website on 5th June, 2017..

STEP 2
Payment of counselling fee and exercising of option by provisionally selected candidates [from 6th June, 2017 to 8th June, 2017]

  1. A specified number of candidates from various categories will be allowed to participate in the counselling process against actual number of seats available with participating NLUs.
  2. The provisionally selected candidates must deposit the requisite counselling fee of `50,000/-with CLAT-2017 Office and exercise any one of the following options:
    1. Lock – The candidates choosing ‘Lock’ option confirms his or her choice of the allotted NLU. Such candidate shall not be considered for further shifting to any other NLUs of his or her higher choice in case of any vacancy arising thereafter at the subsequent stage during counselling process.
    2. Upward Shifting – The candidates choosing ‘Shifting’ option shall be considered against any vacancy arising in NLUs of his or her higher choice via subsequent allotment list. There shall be upward shifting in order of candidates’ preferences provided in the application form. There shall be no downward shifting at any stage of the counselling procedure by the CLAT-2017 office.Note: Candidates who fail to exercise any of the choices the ‘lock’ option shall be considered by default and no further choice shall be availed.
  3. The candidates failing to deposit the requisite counselling fee through the CLAT 2017 website by the specified date will lose their right to be considered for admission under CLAT-2017 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT-2017 Merit List.
  4. The adjustable counselling fee of ` 50,000/- deposited with the CLAT 2017 Office will be transferred to the respective participating NLUs where the candidate has finally taken admission after the completion of the entire admission process.

STEP 3
Publication of second allotment list having the names of finalized candidates after payment of counselling fee and additional waitlisted candidates [12th June, 2017]

  1. The CLAT Office shall publish a second allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs.
  2. A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released in the second list who are provisionally selected against dropped out candidates, if any.
  3. The additional candidates are also required to pay the requisite counselling fee of ` 50,000/- and reserve their seats within the prescribed time period as per the CLAT-2017 calendar. [13th June, 2017 to 14th June, 2017]
  4. Dates for locking of allotted seats or exercising option for shifting against indicative seat allocation list. [13th June, 2017 to 14th June, 2017]
    Note: The candidates failing to deposit the required fees by the specified date will forfeit their right to be considered for admission in CLAT – 2017 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT – 2017 Merit List.

STEP 4
Publication of third list allotting seats to candidates [19th June, 2017]

  1. The CLAT office shall publish a comprehensive third allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs.
  2. The comprehensive list shall include the names of the candidates who have paid the counselling fee against the first and second indicative lists.
  3. A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released along with the third allotment list who are provisionally selected against the dropped out candidates.
  4. These waitlisted candidates are also required to pay the requisite counselling fee of ` 50,000/- and reserve their seats within the prescribed time period as per the CLAT-2017 calendar. [20th June, 2017 to 21st June, 2017]
    Note: The candidates failing to deposit the required fees by the specified date will forfeit their right to be considered for admission in CLAT – 2017 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT – 2017 Merit List.

STEP 5
Last Date for withdrawal from the Admission Process [21st June, 2017]

  1. The provisionally selected candidates can withdraw from the admission process within stipulated time as per the CLAT-2017 calendar. Nominal fee of ` 10,000/- will be deducted from the deposited counselling fee.
  2. Any withdrawal after the stipulated period will result in forfeiture of entire amount of counselling fee.

STEP 6
Publication of fourth list allotting seats to candidates [24th June, 2017]

  1. The CLAT office shall publish a comprehensive fourth allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seats in the participating NLUs.
  2. The comprehensive list shall include the names of the candidates who have paid the counselling fee against the first, second and third indicative lists.
  3. The candidates whose names appear in the fourth list and who have not deposited the counselling fee of ` 50,000/- are required to pay full fee to the allotted NLUs at the time of admission.

Completion of admission formalities at the allotted NLUs.

  1. After the candidates are finally allotted seats in participating NLUs, they will be required to approach the allotted NLU with the balance amount towards the admission and other fees.
  2. The candidates shall carry relevant certificates/documents in original issued by the competent authority in support of the various claims made by the candidates, during the scheduled periods given in CLAT-2017 calendar and complete their admission formalities. Students are advised to visit the website of concerned NLUs to see the format of specific desired documents required for admission. [28th June, 2017 to 30th June, 2017]
  3. The certificates in original will be checked by the respective universities at the time of their admission. (For detailed information/updates about the scheduled dates, the candidates must refer to CLAT-2017 calendar as updated from time to time).
  4. The candidates not possessing the required certificates/documents in original or failing to meet the eligibility requirements will not be allowed to seek admission in participating NLUs.
  5. The candidates seeking admission under various categories specially those belonging to the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) /DFF/NRI/NRI sponsored and the unreserved category candidates seeking admission under State Domicile Category, will be required to obtain the relevant and authentic certificates/documents from the competent authorities and produce the same at the time of admission in the concerned NLU.
  6. Those candidates who fail to report at the allotted NLU after the publication of CLAT merit list and fail to complete the admission formalities as per CLAT-2017 calendar will automatically lose their claim for admission and their entire amount of the counselling fee of ` 50,000/- will be forfeited.

CLAT 2016 Cutoff Ranks has been determined by Fourth & Final Allotment List of each NLU published by CLAT Conducting NLU on CLAT Website on 1st July, 2016.

Here in this article, We have stated Category-wise and NLU-wise Cut Off Ranks prepared in accordance with the 4th Counseling list issued by CLAT Conducting Authority,with the help of which, students can find out the Cut-Off Rank required to enter the desired NLU.

  1. NLU-Wise and Category-Wise Cut Off Ranks were determined in accordance with the 4th and Final Counseling list issued by CLAT Conducting Authority on 1st July, 2016.

CONCLUSION : Having a look at the NLU-Wise Cut Off Ranks, We can conclude that Top 5 NLUs as per General Category Student’s Preference are as follows:-

  • 1st Preference : National Law School of India University, Bangalore (NLSIU)
  • 2nd Preference : National Academy of Legal Study and Research University of Law, Hyderabad (NALSAR)
  • 3rd Preference : The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (WBNUJS)
  • 4th Preference : The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR STUDENTS OF FOURTH ALLOTMENT LIST

1. In the 4th List issued by CLAT office, Some students who have already taken admission and deposited fee at one NLU have been shifted to some other NLU as per their merit cum preference.

2. Such shifted students need not to deposit fee at the Re-Allocated NLU except the difference of fee, if any.

3. The fee of such students is to be transferred to the NLU to which such student is shifted and got admission, by the NLU in which such students were first admitted, along with original documents, if retained at the time of admission.

4. The amount of Rs. 50,000 paid as Counselling Fee shall be transferred to concerned NLU by the CLAT Office after confirmation of the admission of such students.

5. The transferred students are to produce the fee receipt issued by the NLU and also the receipt issued by the CLAT office for Counselling fee, at the NLU where these students are taking final admission.

6. The students whose names appeared fresh in the Fourth Allotment List are required to pay the entire fee directly at the allotted NLU.

Eligibility ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Candidate must have passed the Senior Secondary School / H.S.C (10+2) Examination or any other equivalent examination (students appearing for 12th can also apply), with minimum 45% marks.
  • Candidates passing the compartment papers of qualifying exam of 10+2 subsequently shall not be eligible for admission even if a seat is available.
  • As per Punjabi University, Patiala letter No. 5262 dated 19 June, 2000, the students passing the qualifying exam of Bihar Education Board are not Eligible to seek admission.

HOW TO APPLY FOR AIL ENTRANCE TEST-2016

Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below for filling AIL Law Entrance Application Form 2016:

  1. Go to Army Institute of Law Website.
  2. Then, Go to Apply Online Section and Click on “New Applicant Registration” as shown below:AIL 2016 Apply Online
  3. Fill-in the Required details (Name, Father Name, Email Id, Your Category, Mobile No and Password) and Submit your details.
  4. After Submitting your details, you will receive a Verification Email on your registered Email ID. Click on the Verification Email Link to activate your Account.
  5. Now, Login with your Credentials and Fill-up all the Required details on Online Application Form.
  6. Then, Review your Registration details and make Requisite Fee payment Online.
  7. After making payment successfully, Upload Scanned Copy of Passport Size Photograph (Size Less than 120 KB), Signature (Size Less than 100KB), 10TH Mark Sheet (Size Less than 1.5 MB) & Army Category Certificate (in case Army Category student) (Size Less than 1.5 MB)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR MH CET 2016

  • ADMISSION to 5 YEAR LAW PROGRAM :

– The Primary Requisite for admission in the 5-Year Law Course will be the CET Score. Minimum CET score required by Candidate for admission is 50 Marks out of 150 (40 Marks for 150 for Reserved Category).

– Candidate must have passed the Senior Secondary School / H.S.C (10+2) Examination or any other equivalent examination (students appearing for 12th can also apply), with minimum 50% marks (45% Marks for Reserved Category).

  • ADMISSION to 3 YEAR LAW PROGRAM :

– The Primary Requisite for admission in the 3-Year Law Course will be the CET Score. Minimum CET score required by Candidate for admission is 50 Marks out of 150 (40 Marks for 150 for Reserved Category).

– Candidate must have possessed Graduation degree in any discipline / stream from University of Mumbai or any other recognized University with Minimum 45% Aggregate Marks (40% Marks for Reserved Category). Candidates appearing in the Final year Degree Examination will also be considered eligible for applying to MH CET Law 2016.

HOW TO APPLY FOR MH CET LAW 2016

Candidates can follow the steps mentioned below for filling MH CET Law Application Form 2016:

  1. Go to Maharashtra CET Website.
  2. Then, Go to New Registration Link given on the Website.MH CET Registration
  3. Enter your basic details including Name, Mobile Number and E-Mail id.
  4. After entering all the Basic details, Click on ‘Submit’ Button. You will receive a Provisional Registration No and Password. 
  5. Then, Upload Scanned copy of your Coloured Photograph (File Size : 20 kb – 50 kb) and Signature with Black Pen (File Size : 10 kb – 20 kb) and Click ‘Next’ Button.
  6. Then, Fill up other details as required and Click on ‘Validate Your Details’.
  7. Finally, Check your details and make payment either in Online or Offline Mode through Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Net Banking, Cash Cards / Mobile Wallets / SBI Bank Challan slip. The last date for remitting the application fee of MH CET Law 2016 is May 23.

NOTE:

  • Candidate needs to Remit an Application Fee of Rs. 650 (General Category) and Rs. 350 (Reserved Categories including OBC of Maharashtra state).
  • The Candidate is advised to keep a copy of the Bank challan, MHT-CET-2016 Registration Confirmation Page printout and MHT-CET-2016 Registration No. and password for all future correspondence with MHT-CET Office.

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra will be issuing MH CET Law Admit Card 2016 from 6 June, 2016 in Online mode. Candidates who have applied for the law entrance exam of Maharashtra State can download the MH CET Law 2016 admit cards as per below given process:

  1. Click on the official link of MH CET Law Admit Card 2016 (will be given on Maharashtra CET Website).
  2. Select the Programme for which you have applied for – 5 year integrated LLB / 3 year LLB.
  3. Enter your Login Details including Login ID / User Id / Application Number and Password.
  4. Click on ‘Admit Card’ Tab.
  5. Click on ‘Download’ Button.
  6. Take a Print-Out of the Admit Card of MH CET Law 2016.
  7. Keep a copy safe of the admit card/hall ticket of MH CET Law.

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra shall be declaring MH CET Law Results 2016 in Online mode on 30 June, 2016 for admissions to undergraduate law programmes including 5 year integrated and 3 year LLB programmes. Candidates who will be appearing in the law entrance exam of Maharashtra state can check their results as per below given process:

COMMON MISTAKES WHILE ATTEMPTING CLAT EXAM

Mistakes Even after following all the Rules, Time Table, Guidelines, etc for clearing CLAT Exam, Many students couldn’t make it to get into an NLU. Some students even tried to get through CLAT for Multiple times but were unable to succeed. What are the Reasons behind their Failure? What Mistakes are they doing while CLAT Exam which do not led them to NLU? 

Here, we have compiled some Common Mistakes made by the candidates appearing for CLAT Exam. So, If you’re planning to appear for CLAT 2016, avoid the following mistakes and be cautious while appearing for the Exam :-

  • DON’T PANIC…BE RELAXED Getting Nervous and Panicked at the time of exam makes it worst for you to Get Through the exam. It don’t let you answer even those questions that you are well versed with. Don’t allow your FEAR overpowers you. Be Confident and Positive during the exam. This will not only help you answer everything that you know, but it also helps you giving more Sensible thought to answer Doubtful Questions.
  • DON’T USE BLIND GUESSES Just to score More marks and Better Rank, Many candidates makes RANDOM GUESSES. Just because of blind Guesses, Candidates not only got a Penalty of 1/4 Negative Marking, but it also costs loss of time. If you are not sure about a question, it is better to leave that question rather than attempting it ‘WRONG‘.
  • PRACTICE ONLINE TEST Practice in Paper-Pen Mode for Online Exam is not so much effective. Practicing in Real Time exam environment will makes you more aware about various challenges that could deflect you from the exam. To avoid this in CLAT 2016 main exam, one must take atleast 5-6 Online Mock tests for CLAT. Taking tests Online helps in reducing exam anxiety and makes you more familiar with exam like environment. 
  • MAKE USE OF OPTIONS Many questions can be solved by the ‘Rejection’ of the Impossible options (cannot be an answer in any situation). Please Note – this technique does not apply in all situations.
  • READ THE QUESTIONS PROPERLY…DON’T MISINTERPRET‘Hurry creates Worry’ – In order to answer the questions quickly, many aspirants misinterpret the question and mark the answer accordingly. Read the questions properly before answering, else you will be end up Loosing Time and Marks.
  • SOLVE EASY QUESTIONS FIRST First solve those questions, which are Easy and will take Less Time. Always bear in mind that all questions bear equal marks, hence, No need to solve those questions first which are difficult or Take more time.
  • DO NOT GET STUCK ON A QUESTION Do not waste your time on any question, if you are not able to solve it within 1-2 Mins and if you feel that you might got stucked, Leave it for Second Round.
  • THINK POSITIVELY – A positive attitude is the key to Crack the CLAT Exam and reach more closer to your dream ‘NLU’. Don’t focus on how tough the CLAT exam are supposed to be. Instead, Concentrate your energies on reminding yourself that you can and will crack the CLAT in one go.

CLAT 2016 ADMIT CARDS

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Patiala will start providing CLAT Online Admit Card 2016 to candidates from 19 April, 2016 as per information provided on CLAT Website. Candidates can access and download the CLAT 2016  Admit Card by logging in their registered accounts using the Login id and Password.

CLAT Admit Card contains your Testing Venue or Exam Centre. CLAT 2016 admit card / hall ticket needs to be brought to the allotted Exam Centre on the date of examination along with a valid Identity Proof, else the candidate shall not be allowed to appear in the Common Law Admission Test.

Procedure to Download CLAT 2016 Admit Card

CLAT Login

  • Enter your Login Id and Password of registered CLAT Account
  • Click on ‘Hall Ticket Tab.
  • Choose Assessment as ‘CLAT 8th May 2016‘ and generate the Hall Ticket (Admit card).
  • Log out from the Current Session and again Login to Download your Admit card.
  • Click on ‘Download’ button.
  • Take Print out of the CLAT 2016 Admit Card and Verify the details.

IMPORTANT POINT TO BE NOTED

  1. Candidates are advised to carry Print out of the Admit Card, failing which, candidates will not be allowed to appear in CLAT Exam.
  2. Admit Card will provide you an overview of the exam details including CLAT 2016 Exam Centre / Testing Venue, timing and Papers of the CLAT.
  3. CLAT 2016 Admit Card will be available for Print through Online Mode only. Admit Cards will not be sent to Candidates through Post.
  4. Candidate should verify and ensure the details provided in CLAT 2016 Admit Card / Hall Ticket. In case of any discrepancy, the same should be brought immediately to the notice of the examination authorities.

Law School Admission Test (LSAT) 2016 

LSAT-India is the admission test to be conducted by Pearson VUE on behalf of Law School Admission Council (LSAC) for admissions to the Undergraduate Law Programmes including B.A. LL.B, B.Sc LL.B and B.Com LL.B. to as many as 72 Law Schools in India. This Law Entrance Exam is designed in a way to Test the reading and Verbal Reasoning Skills of the candidates. LSAT India 2016 is an Offline (Paper-Pencil) Test which will be administered in 16 cities of India on 15th May, 2016.

STEP-I : Go to the Official Website of LSAT as shown below and click on ‘REGISTER Now’:

STEP-II : Here, You need to first Register Yourself and ‘Create‘ a LSAT-India 2016 account by providing your E-mail id, Your Name and Setting a Password.

STEP-III : After Creating LSAT-India 2016 Registration Account, you need to apply for LSAT by logging into the account with the above password and Fill-in the Application Form.

STEP-IV : When you logged in with the above credentials on LSAT Website, you need to enter various details required as shown in below image. Here, there will be 6 Tabs (as shown) and you need to Complete Each Tab with the required details:

  • ‘Personal Information’ Tab – Enter your Name, DOB, Nationality, etc.
  • ‘Address Information’ Tab – Fill your Permanent & Correspondence Address.
  • ‘Program Preferences’ Tab – Choose the Course you want to apply for through LSAT, then select Exam Test Centre and select Colleges from the list of Associated Colleges as per your preference of Admission.
  • ‘Educational Qualification’ – Enter your qualification details.
  • ‘Additional Information’ – It Consist of details about your parents.
  • ‘Terms and Conditions’ – Accept the terms & conditions given on the page and then Click on ‘Submit’ to submit your details.

STEP-VI : After submitting all the details, you will get a message acknowledging that you have successfully submitted your application.

STEP VII : Then, You require to Make payment of Fee of Rs. 3800/- against LSAT-India 2016 Application in any of the modes (Online or Offline). If a candidate wants to Pay Offline, then, the candidate should make a Demand Draft in the name of “Pearson India Education Services Private Limited” payable at New Delhi or NOIDA.

  • It is to be informed that All the Participating Law Schools have their respective Eligibility Criteria.
  • All candidates who have successfully completed the LSAT Test Registration, paid the Test Fee and followed published Test Rules were Eligible for the LSAT India Test.
  • Generally, 10+2 Examination or Equivalent with not less than 45% marks is minimum eligibility criteria for All Law Schools.

CLAT exam is conducted by any one of the National Law University (NLU) in chronological order (in order of their year of establishment).  CLAT-2016 will be conducted by  the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab for 2252 seats in UG Program and 632 seats in PG Program. Here, in this article, we have mentioned about Various Details of CLAT 2016 like Eligibility Criteria for CLAT, Paper Pattern, Syllabus of CLAT, No. of seats available with all the NLUs and its break-up, etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CLAT-2016

1. For U.G Programme (LL.B Course)

  • The candidates must have completed 12th or its equivalent (students appearing for 12th can also apply) from the recognized board with minimum 45% marks (in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved / OBC / Specially Abled Persons) and 40% marks for SC / ST candidates.

2. For P.G Programme (LL.M Course)

  • The candidates must have completed the LL.B or 5 year Integrated LL.B degree or its equivalent degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks (in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved / OBC / Specially Abled Persons) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates.
  • As per the recent judgement of honorable Supreme Court of India, there is No Upper Age Limit for appearing in CLAT (U.G. / P.G.) examination.
