ABOUT CLAT-2016

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test), started in 2008, is an All India Entrance Examination conducted by 17 National Law Universities (NLUs) on rotational basis which provide a list of candidates on the basis of ‘merit-cum-preference’ to each University for admission to their Undergraduate (LL.B) and Postgraduate (LL.M) degree programs.

CLAT exam is conducted by any one of the National Law University (NLU) in chronological order (in order of their year of establishment).  CLAT-2016 will be conducted by  the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab for 2252 seats in UG Program and 632 seats in PG Program. Here, in this article, we have mentioned about Various Details of CLAT 2016 like Eligibility Criteria for CLAT, Paper Pattern, Syllabus of CLAT, No. of seats available with all the NLUs and its break-up, etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR CLAT-2016

1. For U.G Programme (LL.B Course)

  • The candidates must have completed 12th or its equivalent (students appearing for 12th can also apply) from the recognized board with minimum 45% marks (in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved / OBC / Specially Abled Persons) and 40% marks for SC / ST candidates.

2. For P.G Programme (LL.M Course)

  • The candidates must have completed the LL.B or 5 year Integrated LL.B degree or its equivalent degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks (in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved / OBC / Specially Abled Persons) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates.
  • As per the recent judgement of honorable Supreme Court of India, there is No Upper Age Limit for appearing in CLAT (U.G. / P.G.) examination.

IMPORTANT DATES IN CLAT-2016

  • Registration Process Starts – From 1st January 2016
  • Registration Process Ends –  31st March 2016.
  • Availability of CLAT 2016 Admit Cards  15th April 2016
  • CLAT 2016 Examination Date & Time – 8th May 2016 (3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
  • CLAT 2016 Result – 23rd May 2016
  • Admission Process in NLUs –  1st June 2016 to  6th July 2016

HOW TO APPLY FOR CLAT 2016?

For the CLAT 2016 examination, the candidates need to Apply Online through the Official Website between the above mentioned dates. Beside online registration, no other mode of submitting the application would be permitted. The candidates must have to apply for UG and PG programmes through the official website.

PAPER PATTERN & SYLLABUS

The candidates appearing for the CLAT 2016 Exam must understand the exam pattern and syllabus. Here, we are discussing the exam pattern for the CLAT 2016 Exam.

1. For U.G Programme (LL.B Course)

  • Maximum Marks : 200 Marks.
  • Duration of CLAT-2016 Examination : 02:00 Hours.
  • Number of Questions : 200 Multiple Choice Questions of 1 mark each.
  • Negative Marking : 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Questions will be asked from the following subjects and the number of marks for each subject is given below:

2. For P.G. Programme (LL.M Course)

  • Maximum Marks : 150 Marks.
  • Duration of CLAT-2016 Examination : 02:00 Hours.
  • Number of Questions : 150 Multiple Choice Questions of 1 mark each.
  • Negative Marking : 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Questions will be asked from the following subjects and the number of marks for each subject is given below :
